2025-2026 Prekindergarten

Curriculum

Lexington ISD’s Prekindergarten Program’s mission is to create a strong foundation that prepares all students for academic, social and emotional growth to build success in their education journey. The district curriculum for PK is tied to the guidelines issued by the State of Texas for all students. PK students receive instruction in all of the areas of language and literacy, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, health, visual arts, music, physical education, and social and emotional learning to prepare them for success in kindergarten.

  

Does Your Child Qualify for the State-Mandated, No Cost Prekindergarten Program?

To be eligible for enrollment in the state-mandated Pre-K program, a child must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2025, live in the district, and must:

  • Be unable to speak and / or comprehend the English language; or
  • Be educationally disadvantaged (eligible for free/reduced lunch program); or
  • Be homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 11302; or
  • Be the child of an active-duty member of the armed forces of the United States including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
  • Be the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or
  • Currently or ever have been in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing under Family Code 201.
  • Children of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as:
    • A peace officer under Section 3106.002 Government Code;
    • A firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code; or
    • An emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code

 

What If your Child Does Not Qualify for the State-Mandated, No Cost Program?

Children who are four years old on or before September 1, 2025, and do not qualify for the state-mandated PK program provided for qualifying students, as described above, are eligible to apply for the full day only, tuition supported Pre-K program. LISD employees will be granted the first lottery and will receive a discounted rate.

How Can I Start the Registration Process for Either Program?

Registration packets may be picked up and returned the Lexington Elementary office from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday thru Thursday. Initially there will be a limited number of tuition-based Pre-K slots available that will be available on a first come first serve basis. After all tuition positions have been filled, an official waiting list will be developed. Students will be accepted or placed on a waiting list on a space availability basis.

 

What are the Required Documents for Registration?

  • Official/Original birth
  • Photo identification of parent / guardian enrolling
    • Approved forms include driver’s license, passport, DPS issued
  • Child’s social security card (optional).
  • Current immunization record signed by physician or official
  • Proof of residency in LISD – current utility bill or copy of

For tuition-based students: Tuition payments may be made once, by semester OR monthly. Monthly tuition is only accepted through auto draft. You will need to bring a voided check to complete the tuition agreement.

LISD employees will be granted the first lottery and will receive a discounted rate. LISD employees will also be able to set up payroll deductions for tuition payments. The Payroll Deduction Authorization Form will need to be completed and turned in to the payroll department prior to September 1, 2025.
