School Board Recognition Month

January 2016 is School Board Recognition Month, and Lexington ISD joins other districts across the state as we honor the countless contributions of these locally elected advocates for public education. It has been my honor and privilege to work with such an outstanding team of trustees who truly want the best for our students. Our LISD Board of Trustees includes: President – Dr. Mark Strain, Vice-President Scott Sanders, Secretary – Riza Cooper, Trustee – Mike Hess, Trustee – Shannon Patschke, Trustee – Dave Roussel, Trustee – Stacey Stamport.

It has been a very busy year for our district as we have begun the construction of our new high school facility and continued with our 1-to-1 iPad launch at the secondary levels. I am proud of the way that the LISD Board represents our community with their stellar attendance and active participation at our board meetings, their commitment to improving as leaders by broadening their knowledge at conferences and seminars, and for being strong ambassadors for our schools and public education with all stakeholders in the community. As we continue to move forward as a team, they remain committed to providing the best education possible for our students in LISD.

Our children benefit every day from the hard work and long hours contributed by our trustees. Serving as the essential link between the community and classroom, our LISD Board is responsible for an annual budget of approximately $9.8 million, 965 students, 150 employees, and 3 campuses. If and when you see them around town, please take a moment to extend thanks to our board members for their service and dedication to the students and staff of LISD. We will be recognizing them at our next board meeting on January 18th at 7:00 PM at the LISD Administration Building. I encourage you to attend and participate with us to show them how much we appreciate their leadership.

Happy 2016! On behalf of the Board of Trustees and our Team of 8, we look forward to positively impacting the lives of our students and staff of LISD.
